Description: A strip of negatives of 6 black-and-white images. On the edges: 'Kodak safety film 5062’'. On the images: 1. A group of people constructing a wooden framework, a large, square, white building in the background; 2: a woman in front of the entry to a house; 3: a man in front of a house covered with greenery, with wood shingle siding and a brick chimney; 4: a cart, with half of the horse visible, decorated with greenery, rosettes, and banners or ribbons, 1900s style homes in the background, underneath, July 4 1909; 5: an image of a parade going through a street with buildings decorated with bunting, with underneath: [f]loat July 4th, [1?]909; 6: a photo of 3 women and a man on a levee, with in the background, a structure with bridge and tower.

History of Object: Black-and-white negative of older photos. 1. shows the construction of the 'house built in a day' behind the Elks Lodge. 2 & 3 unidentified; 4: a 4th of July, 1909, parade float pulled by a horse, on an unpaved street; 5: an image of large float in the parade, possibly Park Street; 6: a photo of unknown people with in the background the houseboat 'Philani', a castle-like ark with spiral staircase and look-out tower built by John Gutleben on the shores of San Leandro Bay, around 1907. Around 1910-1912 the houseboats in this area were cleared.
