History of Object: An original tin tpe photograph of Master Mariner and long-time Alameda resident Captain James Tuft, believed to have been taken between 1870 and 1873, when he was actively engaged in the offshore trade. The tin type was used in the biography of Captain Tuft (cataloged as 21.46.3).
