Mt. Alyeska from the aerial view of the wide open slopes. Mt. Alyeska features a 1-1/4 mile long double chairlift, a Poma lift, a Mitey Mite cable lift and 3 rope tows. Skiing usually begins in late October and lasts through May, and there is skiing all summer long on the glacier. The temperatures are moderate (the bottom chairlift terminal is only 300 feet above sea level); and the snow is beautiful. (We are only on the edge of a snow belt). Located only 40 miles south of Anchorage on scenic Seward Highway, Alyeskda also offers snowmobiling, horse sleigh rides and nightly entertainment.
