When reindeer herd is near a road and within commuting distance of Nome, visitors may see and photograph them. Here a winter tour group, warmly clad by Alaska Airlines in parkas, heavy quilted pants and boots has opportunity to watch Larry Davis, who herds them with a snow machine, as the animals paw for forage through the winter snow.
