Dear guards at the Hakone Sekisho
The Yanagawa domain was in charge of the Futtsu side of the Uraga Channel defense against Western ships from 1853 to 1858. Earlier in 1854, Matthew Perry’s fleet was in the bay to sign the Convention of Kanagawa.
