Description

春後梅花映水涯 孤山處士動詩懷 東風吹到黃昏月 一股清香滿竹齋 Signature: 永業 Seals: 尗 建 Translation After spring, plum blossoms are reflected in the waterside. The Gushan hermit moves the poet’s mind. The east wind blows to the moon of the dusk. A waft of delicate fragrance fills the bamboo study. Notes The Gushan hermit (孤山處士) refers to Lín Bū 林逋 (967–1028), a Northern Song poet who is known for praising plums blossoms, such as in his piece 《山园小梅》. In the second line of that piece, it reads “疏影横斜水清浅,暗香浮动月黄昏”, which seems to have served as inspiration for this present piece. Stylistically, this poem is a seven-character regulated verse poem (qiyan jueju 七言絕句) written in semi-cursive script.
