Frederick Charles Thurston (Fuzzy) was born 12/29/33 in Altoona, graduated from AHS in 1951 a standout athlete in basketball, track and golf. Fuzzy accepted a basketball scholarship to Valparaiso University, Northern Indiana. He returned in the summers of his college years to work in the ice house at the rail yard. Fuzzy Thurston played football for the Green Bay Packers from 1959 - 1967 under Coach Vince Lombadi. He was part of the team that won 5 National Championships including Super I and II. He was named to 1961 & 1962 All Pro Teams and to Packers Hall of Fame in 1975.
