The Altoona Public School building was constructed in 1911 providing classrooms for eight grades. It stood between Bartlett Avenue and Daniels Avenue where Division Street is currently located. This was the third school building in Altoona. The building was said to have contained eight classrooms a small physical education gym, hot lunchroom and furnace-coal storage area. In the early morning hours of October 31, 1951 the Altoona Public School burned.
