Bound in the uniform series binding of mustard colored cloth with black stamped diagonal Japanese-influenced design to front cover of a spider with web, an oak leaf and branch, and a small open fan. Spine has title in gilt with black stamping and Henry Holt publisher's device of owl. Stamping of reeds and cattails continues around to the rear cover. Series began the 1870's, thus the Japanese design.
