Binding Notes

Unusual and striking decorative cover in dark grey cloth depicting a man lying on a forest floor surrounded by black stamped tree trunks and exposed roots confronted by a gilt stamped axe-wielding grim reaper. Based on a Griset engraving for the fable "Mercury and the Woodman." Titles in red are woven throughout the trees. Eerily grim and haunting. Gilt decoration to spine. Beveled edges. All edges gilt.
