Tan cloth with ribbon title and gilt chrysanthemums to front cover reflecting Japanese influence. Also a winged pegasus, and an oak leaf and acorn motif stamped in black and rust. Marvelous spine decoration in gilt, black and rust. Publisher's name in embossed ribbon design to spine bottom. Gilt chrysanthemum, acorn and oak leaf and Pan the Piper in the middle. Classic Greek iconography with an Asian element - typical of the mid eighties Victorian design. Unusual red and white patterned endpapers. All edges gilt.
