Description

A full cover border plate with abstract foliated designs. The innermost border has ivy vines and leaves in a regular pattern with three dots at each corner. On the top, bottom, and proper right there is an additional floral border, thickest on the bottom, thinnest on the side. Used on the 1893 version of "A Wonder Book for Girls and Boys" by Nathaniel Hawthorne

Monogram for Crane is seen in central design that this is the border for, as well as on the spine design. Seems design was split into multiple parts when dies were created; border, central panel, and possibly panel for title and author.
