Book design by Sarah Wyman Whitman in a forest-green coarse-woven cloth with a crossed design composed of three vertical and horizontal lines with large floral outlines extending to the edge of the boards, the center of which has a gilt rectangle with the title in black. A line with the broken floral motif runs the vertical length of the spine through the center of the title, author, and publisher. This is a spine design feature that Whitman employed to great effect.
