Bound in dark grey cloth with black, white, and olive green stamped and embossed cover illustration of a breaching whale diving through frothy white waves. Gilt stamped cover title. Spine is stamped with 3 black humpback whales and gilt titles. Cover design after plate "the ocean boiled with our efforts" on p. 36. Drawing isn't signed, but on early printing of the Sperm Whale story, all illustrations are credited to Charles Livingston Bull.
