Binding Notes

Bound in olive green cloth with a triple gilt ruled decoration to the front cover depicting a polar bear in an arctic landscape. Design is stamped in gilt, blue, white and black and attributed to Charles Livingston Bull. The spine is decorated with a gilt stamped animal head. Deckled page edges. Illustrated end papers. Monogram "CL Bull" underneath polar bear's paw, on last section of white stamping. Note: rubbing wear to the areas that are stamped in white; a common problem with books that were stamped in white, a pigmentation that easily flaked and rubbed.
