The poems are deeply rooted in the Dickninge estate, a historic property in Drenthe with a history dating back to a 13th-century Benedictine monastery. Asscher’s poems are inspired by the current 1813 manor house and the surrounding Reestdal landscape, where he has regularly stayed since 2019.
