Born Adelaide Scarez in England in 1853, Adelaide was originally a mime and serpentine dancer before marrying magician Alexander Herrmann in 1875. Adelaide was trained by Alexander and became his principal assistant, performing together throughout many tours both nationally and internationally. After her husbands death in 1895, Adelaide briefly performed together with her nephew, Leon Herrmann. Shortly after, Adelaide performed as a solo magician until 1928, in her 70's. Adelaide during her career had performed several illusions, her most well-known acts were her "Phantom Bride" "Noah's Ark" and bullet catching acts. She passed away in 1932 at the age of 79.Collection
