Description

Mr. Aurelio Raicich was employed at the Claude Neon Corporation of Newark, NJ, during the late 1910s and 1920s. Raicich was born 1882 in Croatia but later emigrated from Trieste, Italy, to the United States on June 8, 1912. Although he was trained as a carpenter, once settled in the States, he became a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union and became employed by the Claude Neon Corp. It is unconfirmed but said that Raicich helped to create the iconic Breyer's Ice Cream leaf-shaped sign in Queens and a clock sign for the George Washington Bridge in NYC. This photograph is identified as 'Painting Department."
