Description

This is a double-sided, porcelain enamel and neon sign that reads, "Roby's Liquors Nite Club," in limited red and green neon coloring. It has a decorative border of straight lines and curly motifs. Its ends are the bull-nose shape. Roby's was a bar/restaurant in Toledo, OH, that opened some time before 1949, first as Roby's Cafe then later, its name changed to Roby's Nite Club. It closed in 2015. When acquired by the Museum, it had a cage around it to prevent the neon from being broken. It was also acquired with the original brackets and horizontal pole, meant to project from a building's face at 90 degrees.
