Description

Vitrolite glass sign with copper frame would have been mounted on a corner based on its interior wood frame. Reverse glass Vitrolite sign for Hudepohl Beer, circa 1930. Vitrolite was originally introduced in 1908 as a sanitary substitute to wainscoting and table-top applications. The structural pigmented glass began being used for signs in the late 1920s. It is best known in. its structural sheet form and was used to renovate urban storefronts in the 1920s and 1930s.
