Description

The Gem City Ice Cream Company was established in Dayton, OH in 1901 and was the first ice cream manufactured in the city. This 1955 neon sign features novial gold glass- the tubing is actually gold colored rather than clear, coated glass and filled with argon and mercury to create the glow. The original building still stands today. Another photo attached shows the building as it appeared in the 1920s.
