Description

Coca-Cola Atlanta Presentation Piece is a small stainless steel piece of the sign encased in lucite with a photograph of the sign as it appeared for years in Atlanta Description of the three Coca-Cola advertising signs located on back of photograph Sign reads "Coca-Cola: Coke adds life to our town Atlanta." This lucite encased piece of Coca Cola history was part of a Coca Cola sign, formerly located on the Margaret Mitchell Square in downtown Atlanta, GA (Atlanta is still the company home base of Coca Cola). The sign was erected in 1948, and was removed from its original site in 1981, to make way for the development of a city park. There was a lot of public opposition to the removal of this old landmark, to no avail. Due to its significance in the culture and history of the city, some of the sign was salvaged and a few small pieces were preserved in these high quality. These acrylic lucite squares are said to have been presented by city officials to prominent residents and visiting dignitaries to Atlanta--rarely sold.
