Oakes Sign Service was a custom signshop producing neon, wood, wall murals, metal, plastic, and painted billboards in the Wyoming, Ohio area from 1946 to 1965. Floyd L. Oakes was the owner of the business. Oakes' family wanted to donate the photo to the museum which suggested that they contact a local signpainter — Tim McComas — to create some kind of display for the photo. McComas came up with the idea, and the family approved, of a display in which the photo was mounted on a paint brush which was in turn, placed vertically in a can of lettering enamel.Collection
