Description

Brightly colored image of a young man and woman in the foreground with suggestions of a Spanish mission in the background. he dominates the left half of the picture; she dominates the right. His shirt is unbuttoned, revealing a tattooed image of a bleeding Christ surrounded by roses. On the right forearm is another rose. On the left forearm is a golden cross. Over the left shoulder in the background is Christ on a cross. She has her eyes closed and is hiking up her skirts. The blouse and skirt are brightly colored. Skeleton kneels at her feet, holding her leg with one hand and a cut rose in the other. Several skeletons and images of Christian iconography surround central figures. In pencil below picture is written "Mexican Baroque, 1/15 Charles Barth 1985."
