Description

Mixed media collage depicting a farm/country life scene. The background is an acrylic painting of a field. The lower half depicts rows of a golden grain crop. Along the horizon line is a row of rounded, green trees. The sky is light blue and filled with light clouds. On top of the painting are five different objects: a letter, envelope, photograph, lock of hair, and a postcard. Covering most of the painting is a handwritten letter dated February 18, 1892. From what we can read of the letter, it discusses the birth of a new baby and how enclosed is a photograph and a lock of hair. The artist has included these in the collage. The lock of hair is blonde and the heavily creased black and white photograph depicts a young girl in a white bonnet and fur around her neck. On top of the letter is a postcard featuring a bluebird holding a worm in its beak.
