Quilt #8 Bench WarmerEntry/Object ID
1989.1.5Description
The image appears to be a photo likeness of a homemade quilt draped over a chair, bed or another piece of wood furniture. The quilt appears to be of a patchwork design and construction. Its various pieces are made up of some geometric patterns and some organic, flowery patterns. Various squares of mixed and mingled patterns within the overall quilt have bright red center squares of about 1.25 inches and the entire quilt is bordered by a matching trim of bright red. The inside of the quilt can be seen at bottom of the picture appears to be white. The piece is signed by the artist in the lower left of the exposed white inside of the quilt. The background is done in heavy to light browns and yellows. There are six bright red centers visible and there are six squares that can be seen in their entirety, although portions of an additional six squares can be seen at the edges of the picture. The stitching appears to be hand-done in white thread and loosely sewn.Type of Painting
