Description

Landscape scene of a mountainous area. In the foreground is a river filled with various sizes of rocks. The rocks are pink colored. To the right is a single tree. Just behind the river is a row/forest of trees. They begin at the top left corner and angle down. In the background is a large black and pink mountain peak. The entire piece is framed with a simple key border—print 15/18. "Introducing my eleven colors, hand-pulled, limited edition, linocut block print on handmade Mingeishi Awagami mulberry paper "Poudre River~ Rustic." The inspiration was the beautiful russet-colored rhodochrosite canyon in which my mother's house sits facing the Poudre River, pines, and aspen within the Roosevelt National Forrest near Rustic, Colorado. Like printmaker Gustave Baumann, I used a reduction method, oil inks, and a manual flatbed press. The idea for the navy blue key came to me after studying Frances Gearhart's amazing block prints of Yosemite Valley." - From James Hubbard's website.
