Description

Side profile of a man standing in front of a tree holding a dog by the leash. The man, tree, and dog are all in the central foreground of the image, and the background is composed of straight and curvilinear lines to create the appearance of a wooded area. The figure appears to be somewhat overweight, with a large stomach; he is wearing overalls with the strap hanging off his left shoulder and a baseball cap. The dog is sniffing the ground around the base of the tree, presumably searching for truffles. The work is signed "J. Phelps/ 8-2008" on the etching plate. Below the image from the lower-left corner to the lower right corner is signed: "Jack Phelps 4/25 MUSHROOMS imp AQUATINT."
