1989.1.1Description
The image is a portrait of a young woman rendered primarily in ochre colors. She is facing the viewer and has her head tilted slightly to the right side. Her face is somewhat expressionless; her eyes might be described as blank. Lisa has long hair that cascades from the top of her head down through the picture plane and beyond that. Her face and neck are shaded through a series of deep crosshatchings. Her hair is constructed from a fabric of lines and shapes that resemble small squares and rectangles. In some places, the squares and rectangles are arranged to suggest a checkerboard formation. The
work is signed in the lower right corner "Tomas R. Lasansky" and is titled in the lower-left corner, "Lisa WS." The background is in brown tones and appears to be very "active." Plate marks are apparent around the edges of the picture plane.Collection
