Description

The abstracted landscape of Kilcatherine in Ireland where the artist resides. The color palette includes blue-gray, black, cream, peach, blue-green, green, and hints of yellow. Evidence of a scraping pattern indicates that this work was painted with a palette knife. There are numerous layers of thickly applied paint. In the center of the work are two bold regions of color--one is a large black field and the other is a green field. Kingerlee "signs" this work with his symbol of a man in a boat in the lower right corner written in burgundy paint. On the verso is signed "Kingerlee" in the lower right corner. It is dated "2008" in the lower-left corner. "Kilcatherine" is written in the top left corner, and in the top right corner is Kingerlee's symbol of a man in a boat as well as a sketch of a head.
