Description

Portrait image of an old man facing the viewer with his eyes directed toward the upper right. His hair is combed up and towards the left. He is wearing four layer of clothing with an overcoat on top with lapels, a piece below that, a dark piece below that with a button, and finally a white layer that is buttoned tight to the neck. Slightly left of center at the bottom of the paper is written the follow "S. Richards. Munich--March 2nd 1883". Written in ink below the picture is "To the Anderson Club with Respectful Compliments Samuel Richards Dec. 17th, 1891. Pen Study-Bavarian Peasant".
