Description

6 separate plates were used in making this etching on medium-light weight white paper with no watermark. Each individual plate was inked and printed with no plates touching or overlapping. The upper left image depicts a cross sectional view of an artichoke or similar vegetable and is printed in an olive green ink. The upper right image depicts an aerial view of a town with a street marked "Main St." and an arrow pointing to one of several buildings shown. This plate is printed in dark blue ink. The right center image depicts a graveyard with several tombstones and a willow tree on the right half of the image; this is also printed in olive green ink. The lower right image depicts a three-petaled flower with a small leaf between each of the petals, upon a textured background; this is also printed in olive green ink. The lower left image depicts 4 birds (possibly seagulls) standing in water with "Miss Chambers" in script appearing in the center of the image. (Similar to a business card). This plate was printed in dark blue ink. The left center image depicts a young woman from the bust up, dressed in Victorian costume and hairstyle. Her chin rests on her chin. A bird sits on her shoulder on the left side of the image, and flowers, leaves, and berries surround her. This plate was printed in black ink, and is round in shape while the others were rectangular. Below the images the print is numbered in pencil to the left "1/25" titled in the center (slightly left of center) "Miss Chambers" and is signed in pencil to the right "Anne Hoffman Cleaver."
