Martina Smith was the museum's first intern who completed her internship in the summer of 2007. Each year the museum tries to bring in two interns every summer to give them experience in the museum field. Interns will typically learn how to process collection items and put together an exhibit. When she completed her internship, she was added to the museum staff as the Collections Assistant. She aided in the creation of the "Rural Way of Life" Exhibit. The exhibit explores the rural life of Andrew County through the decades from 1841-2001. The exhibit opened in 2009, having its ribbon cutting in October. The photograph was taken by then Museum President Harold Johnson of Miss. Smith, who was setting up the "Rural Way of Life" Exhibit in 2009.
