In 1994, renovations to the museum began and were divided into three phases. First, an office space and a gift shop was built in the first phase. Next, was a three-year plan to build an orientation room. This is where visitors were shown videos and the museum's meetings would be held. There were plans to improve the storage area for artifacts and give genealogy a larger work area. Finally, new exhibits were installed and exhibits for the the Duncan family collections were added. New outdoor exhibits included a pioneer settlement with the Marx Cabin, a corn crib, outhouse, smokehouse, animal housing structures, and a garden.
