2023.ACM.49Description
At Platte Purchase Days there was a large variety of different 1830s reenactors that included crafts men, women, and children, along with different animals. The reenactors showed what farming life would have been like for the settlers, in what would become Andrew County. Oxen where often used in the farming operation to help work ground in the spring.
Photographed here are two oxen in the center during the Platte Purchase Days at Duncan Park. The ox on the right-hand side has one horn lower than the other. The oxen are strapped together as if they were ready to pull a plow. There is a wooden beam setting on the oxen. Underneath, the oxen can be seen with human legs with jeans, but the rest of the people are behind the oxen. On the top right corner, the Savannah water tower is seen, along with a red and white building underneath the tower. To the right are a couple of trees in front of the tower. On the left-hand side, in the distance, there are a couple of buildings, this being where Savannah High School is located. In front of the building, but still in the background, can be seen a Teepee and a crowd walking by. Next is a pond with people sitting on a row of hay bales. On the back, there is some tape and part of a Velcro patch to help the photo hang for a display.Photograph Details
