Moving the Marx CabinEntry/Object ID
2023.ACM.43Description
The Marx Cabin was abandoned from 1923 until 1977. In 1977,The Historical Society of Andrew County, began preparations to move the Marx log cabin from Gore Road to the Clasbey Center. In 1980, they finally moved the cabin, which was built around 1844. Once the renovations finished, the museum hoped to open the cabin to visitors by the summer of 1981. The Boy Scouts and other local volunteers helped the museum to renovate, and upkeep the cabin over the years.
This is a photograph of a truck moving the Marx Cabin. In the photograph they are moving the cabin down a narrow gravel road. The trees are up against the sides of the cabin, which is on the bed of the truck. The truck is stopped on the road, and the driver's door is open. There is a woman with a baby standing in the road looking at the truck and cabin.Context
