Finally, in 1980, the Marx cabin was moved next to the museum. At the time, only 3 log cabins of this age where known to exist in Andrew County. Pictured here is the Marx Cabin after being restored to what it would have looked like when Mathias Marx first moved into the cabin.
This color photograph shows a small bed with a quilt of blue, green, and brown squares. There is an open chest at the end of the bed. There is a pair of socks hanging above the head of the bed on the wall. There is a window to the right of the bed with thin cream curtains. A small oval rug on the floor to the left of the bed with many pastel colors in it. There is a small nightstand with a kerosene lamp to the left of the bed. There is a chair hanging on the wall to the left of the bed. There is a white porcelain bedpan underneath the bed. The bed is a wooden frame with rope supports to keep the mattress in place. There is a gray door to the left of the window. The wooden walls are rough, painted white, and patchy. The floor is also a dark-looking wood. The picture is dark since the only light source is the window.Made/Created
