Description

1964.092 Boat Type: Outboard Builder: Thompson Model: Lake Model Length: 15' 9" Beam: 48" Date Built: 1922-1930 The Thompson Brothers Boat Manufacturing Company were builders of smallcraft from 1904 into the 1960s. They were particularly noted for building strip-built boats, and are probably best-known today for their outboard boats. This is a relatively early Thompson, probably a Lake Model from the 1920s, with an L-shaped seat in the back. It has a battery box under one seat, and so it was probably powered by an outboard motor that had an induction coil and needed a battery. It also has an electric light on the bow that was probably added by the owner, as it does not appear in any of the Thompson catalogs. It has side-plate oarlock sockets and floorboards. The paint is flaky and there are a couple of rib sisters, but aside from this the boat is pretty sound. EVS 08
