Description

2007.020 Banshee Boat Type: Sailing Canoe Builder: W. F. Stevens Model: n/a Length: 16' Beam: 30" Date Built: 1905 Banshee is a 16/30 IC2 sailing canoe built by W. F. Stevens of Bath, Maine for ACA member and sailor Herman Dudley Murphy. Murphy sailed out of the Winchester Boat Club in Winchester, MA, and Banshee was a successful boat with an interesting career. The boat is mentioned in several ACA yearbooks, and was well-documented by her last owner, Mr. Sherry Proctor, who purchased the boat in 1960. The materials he collected were donated with the boat and are in the ABM archives. Banshee was restored to sailing condition and participated in the Festival of Oar, Paddle, and Sail at ABM. The boat was donated with complete equipment. EVS 08
