Description

2005.010 Boat Type: Square Stern, Sailing Builder: Pionier Model: Dingi 380 M Legth: 3.8 M (12' 6") Beam:1.25 M (41") Date Built: 1960-1965 The Pionier-Faltboot-Werft, H. Hoeflmay & Co., was a German company that began making folding canvas-over-frame boats in the late 1950s. Another company, Klepper, had begun making boats of this type even earlier. The Dingi 380 M is very similar to the Klepper Master; both are 12' square sterns for sailing, rowing, or outboard motor power. The 380 M is made to fold up completely into a compact package that can be carried in the trunk of a car, and unfolded and set up quickly on shore. It sails with a simple Marconi rig using two leeboards. It has many pieces. The boat is in good shape, though some of the plywood pieces are badly de-laminated. There are many pieces all tagged and stored on Rack R, West side, bottom. EVS 08 Looks much like a Klepper Master - DJM 3/09
