Description

Inboard engine, Lycoming straight 8, Model UE 110 A "Nothing finer can be said of any motorboat than it is Powered by Lycoming", so reads the advertising literature for Lycoming motors. The UE is an in-line eight cylinder flathead from the early 1930s. This engine has induction coil ignition and the ubiquitous Holley DD5 downdraft carburetor. According to Lycoming's literature, the UE model produces a maximum of 165 horsepower at 3200 rpm. This is a mid-size eight, 3 3/8 by 4 1/2, 420 cubic inches of displacement. It has a Joes reduction gear from Snow & Petrelli. Our file on Lycoming engines is extensive, including an original sales guide that lists this engine. It sold for $845 in 1934, $1020 with a reduction gear. EVS 2007
