Inboard engine, Scripps
Scripps Motor Company, Detroit, MI, began production of marine engines in 1906. They offered an alternative engine block, cast with aluminum, instead of cast iron. By 1911, Scripps began to include the transmission as a part of their engine on most models. The Scripps engines were advertised as being "more expensive than the competition, but better in quality." This 1930's engine is Model 302, has 316 HP and is the type of engine originally in "Footloose and Fancy Free" as seen here in the Museum.
From 2020-2024, this Scripps was rebuilt and installed in "Footloose and Fancy-Free" in 2024.Collection
