Description

Inboard engine, Delco generator Delco-Light Co. headquarters was in Dayton, OH. An overhead valve engine such as this one built in 1926 was a one cylinder, 800 watt generator and advertised "for use on yachts, cruisers, launches and sailing craft." However, air cooled generators have been illegal on boats for many years unless used on deck. People have depended on these more for cottage use instead. There were plants in 16, 32, and 110 volts to meet any requirements, and were air cooled. The battery bank for these 32 volt generators was made up of 16 big glass battery jars. The generator was cranked up and run most of the day charging the batteries back up for use at night.
