Description

Inboard engine, Thrall Motor Co. This Thrall engine is a typical example of the ones that had an external water jacket made of copper rather than cast iron. External gears, with no lubrication, were finally enclosed in aluminum casting. Thrall Motor Company, Detroit, MI, was short lived, making their marine engines for only a few years. They are quite rare today. They made motors from 3 to 12 HP, in one and two cylinders. Their small 3 HP model was advertised to weigh less than 60 pounds. This 1910 engine has two cylinders and 6 HP.
