Description

Bearcat 85 The Bearcat outboard motor made by Fisher Pierce is often credited as being the first four-cycle outboard, though it is probably only the first successfully marketed and produced in large numbers, in the 1960s. According to a collector who toured the Doebler building in 2008, the Bearcat 85 is a rare motor because the powerheads were often removed and used for go-kart racing in the 70s. This is a very large motor, probably 85 horsepower, with underwater exhaust. The engine plate cannot be seen with the motor in its current position.
