Description

Outboard engine, Evinrude Ace, 1939, 1 cyl, 1.8 HP, s/n 00123 Evinrude/Elto Outboard Motor Accn. No. 1964.055 Donor: June Foster Made by Outboard Marine Corp, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 1.8 HP Model "ACE", Pivot Steering Sold new for $47.50 in 1939 1 cylinder flywheel magneto 1 ¾" Bore x 1 35/64 stroke This Motor was built after the great depression and was marketed toward the fisherman. Advertisements often showed young boys carrying it down the dock, or as a present under the Christmas tree. In 1930, the winds of war were blowing and there was some caution in the buyers market to purchase outboard motors. The ELTO Company and the Evinrude Company were merged when this motor was built. Both names in some cases appeared on the flywheel to allow the motor to be sold by both dealer networks. from Boldt Yacht House signage. JMP 2010
