Description

Outboard engine, Johnson This model SR-60 is a 1932, 16 HP racing engine. It was modified by Randolph Hubbell of California, who provided specialized racing service for all outboard motors. The motor features Hubbell cavitation plate and a rare Eldridge lower unit. The fuel mixture consisted of a mix of 2 quarts of Baker;s AA caster oil with 1 quart of Benzol and 4 gallons of methanol. The motor has been restored by Walt Peeters, a longtime outboard motor enthusiast who has won numerous awards for his work. The stock model for this racing engine was a Johnson Sea Horse SR-60, s/n 164788, a large off-set opposed twin. It is an all-aluminum motor with the exception of the cylinders themselves. In addition to the modifications above, the original carburetor has been replaced with a much larger Vacturi carburetor with a 2" diameter intake, a high-capacity fuel line, and straight stack Hubbell exhaust pipes. Also has a racing propeller on the V & H lower unit. The spark plugs have been outfitted with aftermarket clips to prevent the wires from coming loose. Engine is in very nice condition with bright original decals.
