Description

Outboard engine, Caille Callie Outboard Motor Accn. No. 1988.035.043 Donor: Robert Sandreczki Made by Caille Motor Company, Detroit Manufactor: Caille Motor Co., Detroit Model: A 5-Speed Pennant Serial No.: 46510 ABM Accn. No.: 1988.035.043 Horsepower: 2.75 Cylinder: 2-flywheel magneto Sold through: Caille dealers Donor: Robert Sandreczki This motor was made by the Caille Motor Company of Detroit, MI. Its model is a 5-Speed Pennant, serial number 46510. It is 2.75 hp, 2 cylinder flywheel magneto. The gear shift feature which was designed and used on Caille motors was ahead of its time and well made. By lifting and lowering the steering handle and pressing the handle button, there are five notches to lock the handle. The propeller blades will feather (change pitch) and let the operator go into full reverse by lifting the handle. Dropping the handle to the center notch offers a neutral (prop is spinning but not taking a bite of water). Lowering the handle all the way will make the prop take a bite and push the boat forward. The Caille Company made coin operated music machines and gambling devices (one-armed bandits) as well as marine engines. from Boldt Yacht House signage JMP 2010
