Description

Outboard engine, Johnson 300 Johnson model 300 97.015 An all-aluminum, five horsepower engine from 1936, a later model off-set opposed twin. One of a few engines to have this earlier piston configuration and more modern controls, such as combined spark and throttle, and both high and low-speed richness adjustment. It also has a cast-aluminum exhaust manifold and cast-brass raw-water intake by the propeller, rather than the more usual Johnson water system where the water intake is just behind the propeller at the top of its rotation. This engine is in nice original condition including the original spark-plug wires and bakelite covers. Displayable as illustrative of the evolution of outboard motor design. Turns over stiffly, needs oil or it might seize in long-term storage.
