Mercury Mark 40 H
The famously successful short-shaft racing engine, used mostly on prop-rider hydroplanes. A vertical in-line four cylinder, two-stroke, with dual carburetors. The cowling has two sets of spaces for richness and idle adjustment, but this engine shows no controls in any of them. Firing order (1-3-2-4) advertised on the front. The handle on the ripcord appears original though the rope has most likely been broken many times. This motor has a wing-shaped bar mounted on the back for connecting to steering cables, and a racing propeller. An important racing engine in very nice shape.Collection
